Nice conductors!

I like nice conductors. I know one conductor in NJ transit who always says 'Thank you' and remembers most of the faces, their destinations. When you try to take your monthly pass out, he will say 'Yeah, I know you...you are going to NY, right?!'. Wow..how wonderful that is!

Rain delays tRains!

Our subway was stopped for 20 minutes because of rain. Actually, rain is not even heavy but they announced something feebly which I couldn't even make out. I assumed that the delay is due to rain and my friends also confirmed it. Once we got into Penn Station, We saw most of trains in 'StandBy' mode. Thank God, We have friends,Laptops,PDA's or Ipods to kill time in train stations and trains!

It happened again!

Rainy day...too many cars...traffic jam, I missed my train today! The worst thing is when I came to the station, I saw train started leaving in front of my eyes. To rub the salt on wound, train stopped moving after two inches for another express train to pass by. Come on...either change the train timings so that you won't stop for the express train or open the doors for another two minutes. It will bring back smiles to lot of faces.
If anybody wondering which train station I am talking about...its none other than 'JERSEY AVENUE'.

Monthly pass agonies!

As you know, 8 out of 10 people who takes NY train from NJ usually buys a monthly pass. I also do the same! But the only problem with this monthly pass is , I forget to carry the damn thing sometimes because of the last minute hurry.
I am going to explain the three scenarios which happened.

(1) First time,Conductor I told me he was not going to charge the extra 5$ surcharge and instructed me to have the receipt so that I can avoid buying a ticket. I paid 10$ or something on board.

(2) Second time, I was smart enought to have the receipt. The Conductor II didn't even care to see anything and asked me where I was going. Didn't charge me a single penny, How nice?! (Thank you Sir!)

(3) Same day evening, Conductor III saw the receipt and told me 'Where is the pass, this is just a receipt!' I explained the whole situation.. 'she' got irritated , charged me the extra surcharge of 5$ too which added upto 14$ something.

Bomb threat in Newyork

Friday evening, When I was about to start home...I heard the news from CNN that there was a bomb threat in NYC subway and they closed all the '1' train from 34th to 90th street. I came out and searched for a cab. There was one other american woman who is also waiting for the cab. She found one Cab and since she knew that we (Myself and Friend) were also going for Penn station, she asked us to join with her. We went with a thanking smiling face but the cab driver didn't like the idea and he immediately took the car leaving all three of us. (It was a black cab and they should not take people in NY streets like that it seems. That guy wanted to make some quick money and he didn't like the idea of three people sharing the cab for 10$. That American woman explained the logic to me!) I felt very sorry for her and apologised for inconvenience. She told 'Don't worry about that!'.
Finally we got a cab, Shared it and travelled together exchanging our business cards. NY penn station is full of Cops and people. Our train was waiting for us. We got into the train happily...yup, it was friday right?!
